The 6.5L Chev Diesel NEW GEP Long Motor is a heavy-duty replacement for 6.2L diesel engines, designed for improved reliability, durability, and performance. Manufactured in Indiana, USA, on the same production line used for engines supplied to the US Military Humvee program, these motors incorporate a range of design and material upgrades to address common weaknesses found in earlier 6.2L and 6.5L engines.

The cylinder heads and engine blocks are cast in the USA using modern metallurgy, with additional reinforcement in areas prone to cracking. The crankshaft has also been upgraded to a forged design to help prevent the crankshaft failures associated with earlier versions of this engine platform.

Compatibility and installation

The 6.5L Chev Diesel NEW GEP Long Motor is designed to replace 6.2L engines with minimal modifications. However, all GEP engines require metric thread fasteners throughout.

Earlier GM engines manufactured before mid 1999 may use standard thread fasteners in certain locations. When fitting the 6.5L Chev Diesel NEW GEP Long Motor in place of an earlier model, some metric replacement fasteners may be required to ensure correct installation.
