The LQ4 is a 6.0L LS (Gen. 3) small block engine used in GM trucks between 1999 and 2007. For marketing purposes, it was also known as the Vortec 6000.
The 6.0 L Vortec 3rd gen LQ4 engine and the 4L85e transmission (stronger than the 4L80e by GM but the same casing)It has a harder input shaft, five pinion gears for the output and reaction gear sets, and a few other things like additional clutches.
The 4L85E utilizes a lock-up torque converter, which provides high stall speed and maximum torque multiplication for performance, and a lock-up function that reduces heat buildup at cruising speeds.
